The beautiful and unspoiled Greek island just 40 miles from Santorini

This hidden treasure has views and natural beauty that easily rival those of its more famous island neighbours.

In recent years, the Greek Islands have become incredibly popular, mostly thanks to their “Instagram-worthy” scenery.

The mix of bright white buildings and crystal-clear blue sea has made them perfect for unforgettable holiday photos. But with fame has come a big challenge.

Islands like Mykonos and Santorini are now so popular that locals say they can no longer cope with the crowds, and the local services are struggling to keep up.

As these busy islands start to bring in rules to protect themselves from the pressures of mass tourism, many lesser-known islands are waiting to be explored—with all the charm but fewer visitors.

If you're after amazing views, classic Greek architecture, and beautiful sandy beaches, there's a hidden gem just 40 miles north of Santorini that has it all.

Folegandros, one of the western Cyclades islands, is built around a medieval hilltop village created by the Venetians.

It’s still mostly untouched by mass tourism, making it perfect for anyone wanting to enjoy the peaceful side of Greek island life.

A photo of Chora, the island’s main village, looks just like a postcard from Santorini—with whitewashed buildings, narrow cobbled lanes, and a stunning blue sea in the background.

A walk through Kastro, the 13th-century Venetian Castle, offers a glimpse into the island’s rich past, with colourful flowerbeds set against bright white homes—showing off everything that makes the Greek islands so special.
