A beautiful island known for its rugged scenery, tall mountains and stunning coastline has earned the nickname of Europe’s ‘mini Caribbean’.
This hidden gem, often called the “Island of Beauty”, has a rich history shaped by both French and Italian influences.
It is also known as the birthplace of Napoleon Bonaparte and sits just over two hours from the UK by plane

Travellers on TripAdvisor have compared its beaches to those in the Caribbean.
One person wrote: “The beaches are just like the Caribbean – white sand, bright blue water, brilliant snorkelling, loads of water sports if you want them, and quiet empty beaches if you don’t.”
Another holidaymaker added: “It has lovely yellow sandy beaches with long rows of trees behind them. It’s the closest thing to a paradise island that I’ve found in Europe.”
Corsica is the fourth-largest island in the Mediterranean and has everything from huge mountains to untouched beaches, reports The Express.

Its tallest peak, Monte Cinto, rises an impressive 2,706 metres (8,878 feet) above sea level.
The island draws in visitors thanks to its jaw-dropping landscapes, dramatic cliffs, clean sandy shores, clear waters, and old towns such as Ajaccio, the capital, and Bonifacio.
People can enjoy walking routes, boat trips, and wander around peaceful villages. One of Corsica’s loveliest hidden beaches lies in the Desert des Agriates and is perfect for anyone who wants total calm.
You can only reach it by boat or by using a 4x4, but the soft white sand and amazingly clear water make the journey completely worth it.
