Malta’s long and colourful history has been shaped by many different cultures over the centuries, including the Phoenicians, Romans, Arabs, the Knights of St John and the British.

Their influence can still be seen today in the island’s food, language, and unique mix of architectural styles.

Because both Maltese and English are official languages, getting around and talking to locals is easy for visitors. The island’s food is also a big highlight, with traditional dishes like pastizzi, rabbit stew, and freshly caught seafood served in many restaurants.

Visitors can discover ancient temples that are even older than the Egyptian pyramids, wander through the narrow medieval streets of Mdina, dive among shipwrecks beneath the sea, or simply relax on the soft sands of Golden Bay while soaking up the sunshine.
