A recent survey has shown which city travellers around the world believe is the best place to visit, and it’s only a short flight from the UK.
Of course, everyone has different opinions on what makes a city special, but this one seems to have impressed most visitors.
It’s also one of Europe’s warmest capitals in October and full of history for anyone who loves culture and sightseeing.

The city voted the best in the world for tourists, according to Condé Nast Traveller, is Valletta.
Malta’s capital is just a three-hour flight from the UK, and flights can cost as little as £20 with budget airlines.
The survey asked visitors questions across several areas, then combined the results to create an overall satisfaction score for each destination. Valletta scored an impressive 97.33 out of 100.
Condé Nast Traveller has recently released the results of its 2025 Readers’ Choice Awards.
Travellers were asked about many factors, including how easy a city is to walk around, its culture, nightlife, hotels and more. These answers helped to find which cities stood out most to visitors.
The travel magazine described Valletta as a “sun-soaked capital” that feels both “ancient and fresh” at the same time. It also praised the Maltese capital for its exciting creative scene, saying it’s one of Europe’s most lively artistic hubs built on centuries of history.

Valletta might be small, with a population of just over 5,000 people, but it certainly makes an impression. The city welcomes visitors from all over the world every year, drawn by its sunshine, culture and fascinating past. It’s a compact place that’s full of life and charm.
When it comes to things to do, Valletta has plenty to offer. One of its top-rated attractions is St John’s Co-Cathedral, a stunning church built in the 1500s. Inside, visitors can see amazing artwork and golden details that show off the city’s rich history.
Valletta also has deep links to Malta’s military and maritime history. For those interested in the country’s past, top attractions include the Lascaris War Rooms, the Saluting Battery and the National War Museum, all of which explore Malta’s important wartime role.
Tourists also enjoy visiting Upper Barrakka Gardens for beautiful views across the harbour, as well as the Valletta Waterfront, Grand Master’s Palace and Barrakka Lift. Each of these spots offers something unique and gives visitors a closer look at the city’s story.
