Set in the stunning Bay of Naples, this small Italian island stays pleasantly warm even as autumn arrives.
While most of Europe begins to cool down, this relaxed destination still enjoys temperatures of around 23°C in October, according to Holiday Weather.
This hidden gem is found between Cape Miseno and the island of Ischia, and it measures less than two square miles in size.
Even though it’s tiny, it is full of charm and beauty. With its colourful fishing villages, peaceful bays and lovely beaches, this underrated island offers an authentic Italian experience.

The island’s most famous sight is Marina Corricella, a pretty harbour lined with bright pastel houses that seem to tumble down towards the sea.
It’s such a picturesque spot that it has appeared in well-known films like The Talented Mr Ripley and Il Postino.
Procida is just an hour and 20 minutes from Naples and even earned the title of Italian Capital of Culture in 2022, the first island ever to receive the award.
When you arrive by ferry, you’ll step straight into Marina Grande, the island’s main port.
Here you’ll find pastel-painted buildings, the historic Montefusco Palace, and plenty of cafés and seafood restaurants where you can sit back and enjoy the view.

Procida’s beaches are stunning, with everything from dark volcanic sand to hidden coves and clear turquoise water.
Popular spots include Chaiolella near Marina Chiaiolella, Spiaggia del Pozzo Vecchio, Spiaggia Chiaia and Il Ciracciolo, each offering its own special charm.
Don’t miss the island’s highest point, a fortified village with incredible views across the entire bay.
Here you can visit the Abbey of San Michele Arcangelo and explore Palazzo d’Avalos, a former prison that now stands as one of Procida’s most historic landmarks.
