Europe’s safest city is a sunny treasure with a beautiful Old Town and a secret beach

Croatia is known for its sandy shores, peaceful islands, and beautiful national parks, and it’s no surprise that it has become a favourite holiday spot.

But one lively destination has now been named the safest city in Europe, making it even more appealing for travellers.

This place has grown into a major holiday hotspot in recent years, especially after it appeared as a filming location in the hit TV show Game of Thrones.

The show highlighted the city’s incredible Old Town, its winding stone streets, and its amazing sea views, catching the eye of visitors from around the world.

Today, Dubrovnik is loved by tourists who fly in for short breaks to walk along the famous City Walls, relax on nearby beaches, and enjoy the city’s busy restaurants, bars, and shops.

The Old Town, which is a UNESCO World Heritage site, is the main attraction. It is filled with charming streets packed with quirky shops, impressive fortresses, and beautiful Baroque-style churches.

The City Walls surrounding the Old Town are also a must-see, and there are many guided walks available if you want to learn more about Dubrovnik’s long and fascinating past.

Fans of Game of Thrones will also find lots of themed tours that include the spots used to film scenes for King’s Landing, the Purple Wedding, and several other iconic moments from the series.

History lovers should make time for Rector’s Palace too. This building has stunning Gothic architecture and now serves as a museum full of interesting displays and brilliant artwork.

If you plan to explore properly, you will need around two to three days for a busy schedule, and adding an extra day or two gives you time to relax at places like Banje Beach, a pebbled beach famous for its fantastic city views and clear blue water.

The Croatian city has long been a hit with people from the UK, but now it has another bonus, as travel experts at Riviera Travel have named it the safest city in Europe.
