Alicante’s story goes back thousands of years, with evidence of many civilisations settling there, including the Greeks, Romans and Moors.

When the Romans ruled, the city was known as “Lucentum”. Over the centuries, the Moors, who controlled the region for a long time, left a strong mark on the city.

This long history can still be seen today in its buildings, local traditions, and cultural style.

Set along the Costa Blanca and facing the Mediterranean Sea, Alicante is surrounded by beautiful natural landscapes, including mountains and long stretches of coastline.

The city enjoys a typical Mediterranean climate, with very hot summers and mild winters.

During the summer months, temperatures often rise above 30C, while winters stay fairly warm at around 15-20C. In autumn, Alicante remains hot and sunny, with October daytime temperatures still reaching around 25C.

Alicante also has many great sights that visitors shouldn’t miss. One of its most famous landmarks is Santa Barbara Castle, which is one of the biggest medieval fortresses in Spain.
