Tucked away on one of the Canary Islands is a lovely seaside village that most tourists never visit.

This hidden gem is a small coastal town in Haría on Lanzarote and is often missed by holidaymakers.

Despite this, it enjoys warm temperatures of up to 24C in April, according to data from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.

The village is known for its narrow streets, which are lined with colourful cafés and welcoming holiday apartments.

In Arrieta, the sea is always close by, and the coastline stretches around the town.

Families can enjoy trips to a nearby cave, a sandy beach and a natural sea pool, all ideal for relaxed days out.

Fishing is another popular activity in the village and adds to its calm and peaceful feel. Many visitors enjoy watching the boats or trying their hand at fishing as a way to slow down and relax.

Arrieta sits in a quieter part of Lanzarote and is well known for its wild and unspoilt scenery. The natural surroundings are a big reason why the area feels so special.

Nearby attractions highlight this natural beauty, including the colourful birds at Guinate Tropical Park and the volcanic caves of Jameos del Agua, as reported by the Mirror.

Visitors can also explore a huge cactus garden and walk through Cueva de los Verdes. This six-kilometre-long tunnel was formed by lava from the nearby Monte Corona volcano.

The main attraction in the village is La Garita beach, which has clear water stretching for more than 800 metres. It is especially popular with surfers thanks to its strong waves.

Inside the village, there are several historic buildings to see. These include the church of Nuestra Señora del Carmen and the eye-catching Casa Azul, also known as the Blue House.

Arrieta is also famous for its excellent seafood restaurants. Many locals and visitors say they serve some of the best fish dishes on the island.

If you visit near the end of July, you can experience the village festival celebrating Nuestra Señora del Carmen.

This lively event sees locals dress in traditional clothes before a moving procession takes place on small fishing boats to honour the Virgin Mary.
