Rome is a stunning city in Italy and a favourite destination for British tourists.
However, Britons planning to visit between December 24, 2024, and January 6, 2026, should pay attention to important advice.
The Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) has shared updates about the Jubilee, which will take place in Rome starting late December.
The FCDO explained: "The Jubilee, also called the Holy Year, will be held in Rome from December 24, 2024, to January 6, 2026.

"The city is expected to be exceptionally busy, especially during major events."
Travellers heading to Rome during this period should check the FCDO's Jubilee 2025 - Holy Year information under the Safety and Security section.
This resource provides crucial details about events, Pilgrim cards, navigating the city, and the potential for an increase in petty crime.

Before travelling to Italy, Britons are encouraged to review the FCDO’s latest advice on travel warnings, insurance, entry requirements, safety, health, and emergency support.
The FCDO noted: "Rome is expecting large crowds throughout the holy year of 2025, particularly during key celebrations."
Tourists should be aware that transport systems across the city will be crowded, and local authorities may direct visitors to use specific routes.
Britons are advised to plan their journeys in advance and allow extra time, especially when attending major events.
