A popular holiday spot in the European Union is planning big changes for UK tourists to help reduce the number of visitors.
UK holidaymakers have been given a warning about important changes that will start affecting them in 2025.
Marga Prohens, the president of the Balearic Islands, which includes Majorca, has said that “firm and brave decisions” are being made to deal with overcrowding.

She explained that the government is working on long-term plans to make tourism more sustainable, but some changes will happen sooner.
These changes will be “brave” and agreed upon by everyone involved.
Prohens also made it clear that tourists will always be welcome in the Balearic Islands and that tourism is very important for the economy.
It will remain a major way for the islands to earn money and support the people living there.

She also mentioned that the government wants to encourage new ideas and investment to help improve the islands. To do this, they are creating new laws to make things easier and setting up a special team to speed up big projects.
The president said tourism will continue to be the biggest industry in the Balearic Islands for many years, and people should be proud of it. She repeated that tourists are always welcome and treated well.
Looking back on the 2024 season, Prohens noted a 6 per cent increase in visitors and a 13 per cent rise in how much money tourists spent.
