One of the best things about living in the UK is how many great holiday destinations are just a short trip away.
Alongside all the beautiful places you can visit at home, there are also plenty of sunny getaways only a few hours from British airports.
One of those destinations is Greece, which has become increasingly popular not only with young travellers exploring the world but also with older visitors looking for a calm and comfortable break.

For older travellers, the most important thing to look for is accessibility. Direct flights are ideal, as they make travelling quicker and easier.
It’s also worth checking how easy a place is to get around. Destinations with steep hills or cobbled streets can be harder to walk through, especially for those with mobility issues.
You should also make sure there are enough transport options. If you don’t plan to drive, look for places with plenty of taxis, buses, or car services so you can get around without any stress.
According to the travel site Santorini Secrets, Corfu is one of the best choices for older travellers.
The island has direct flights every day from across Europe and the UK. It’s also a favourite among retirees who choose to buy property there or visit regularly for a peaceful holiday.

Corfu’s sandy beaches are easy to reach and ideal for anyone wanting to relax by the sea. The island’s gentle pace and friendly atmosphere make it especially welcoming for older tourists.
Santorini Secrets writes: “Corfu’s old town, with its Venetian-style buildings and narrow alleys, is one of the most charming in Greece, full of lovely restaurants and cafés.
“There are many soft sandy beaches that are easy for older people to access, with great facilities and hotels right by the sea for those who want to stay close to the water.”
While islands like Santorini and Mykonos are stunning, they can be less suitable for older British travellers. Their steep paths and uneven cobblestones can make getting around more difficult for anyone with limited mobility.
