If you’re craving some sunshine while the UK prepares for rain and chilly weather, there’s a Mediterranean hotspot just a few hours away where it still feels like summer.
This city is the perfect escape from the grey days of November.
With temperatures reaching around 23°C, according to TUI, the island offers golden beaches, warm sunshine and a laid-back atmosphere that makes it one of Europe’s best winter getaways.

Paphos is easily reached by a direct flight from the UK, taking around four hours. The city was recently named the world’s most liveable small city thanks to its blend of rich culture, safety, good value and relaxed lifestyle.
With 27 beaches, ancient landmarks and restaurants serving delicious Mediterranean cuisine, it’s no surprise that Paphos continues to draw visitors year after year.
You can start your day relaxing on peaceful beaches like Nissi Beach, or take a step back in time by exploring the Tombs of the Kings, a UNESCO World Heritage Site dating back to the 4th century BC.
The Kato Paphos Archaeological Park is another highlight, filled with Roman mosaics and impressive ruins that tell the story of Cyprus’s long history.
Paphos is also famous for Aphrodite’s Rock, the mythical birthplace of the Greek goddess of love and beauty, which sits along the island’s scenic coastline.

After sightseeing, you can enjoy authentic Cypriot dishes like grilled halloumi, souvlaki and slow-cooked kleftiko.
Don’t miss the chance to try Commandaria, a sweet wine that’s been produced on the island for thousands of years and is said to be the world’s oldest wine still made today.
Another must-see is Paphos Castle, located right by the harbour. It was originally built as a Byzantine fort to defend the port and has been rebuilt several times throughout history by the Lusignans, Venetians and Ottomans.
Today, the castle is one of the city’s most popular attractions. Visitors can walk along its ancient stone walls, climb up for views over the sea, and explore the small exhibitions inside that showcase its fascinating past.
