The stunning African city 3 hours from the UK with 29C heat in May and flights from only £37

In between the busy markets and peaceful gardens, there are rumours that this historic North African city could be the next setting for a popular TV show.

With its sunny weather, bright markets, and lots of fancy hotels, it’s no surprise that Marrakech is being talked about as the possible location for season 4 of the hit TV series The White Lotus.

It’s one of Morocco’s four imperial cities and sits just west of the Atlas Mountains. After filming in Hawaii, Sicily, and Thailand, people now think the next season of The White Lotus will take place in this exciting and stylish city.

This place has loads of markets filled with colourful fabrics and handmade goods. The city is full of tiny streets to wander through, as well as art galleries and historic buildings to discover.

It’s also where fashion designer Yves Saint Laurent once lived. His house and garden, called Jardin Majorelle, is a big tourist favourite with its bold blue walls, cactus plants, and beautiful flowers—many think it would make a perfect filming location.

Jardin Majorelle is especially popular because it looks great in photos, with its bright colours and peaceful vibe.

Condé Nast Traveller wrote: “Unlike the busy streets, the Four Seasons hotel (where the show often films) feels calm and relaxing. That’s why we’ve listed it as one of Marrakech’s top places to stay.

The hotel has stylish, low buildings and peaceful rooms, which is very different from the usual colourful and detailed Moroccan style—making it really nice to look at on screen.”

Marrakech has an old walled part of the city filled with stalls and sellers. This medina area is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and includes the famous Jemaa el-Fnaa square, the Kutubiyya Mosque, and many other cultural spots.

You can get to Marrakech easily via Menara International Airport or by train, which links the city to Casablanca and other parts of northern Morocco.

In May, temperatures usually reach around 29°C during the day and drop to 14°C at night. You can fly there from the UK for as little as £37 with airlines like Ryanair, easyJet, British Airways, TUI, and Jet2.
