Just an hour’s drive from Málaga, this picturesque town looks like a giant sugar cube, thanks to its bright white buildings.
A breathtaking village in Andalusia, Spain, has been named the most beautiful in the region, according to a survey by travel website Noradoa.
Home to around 8,000 people, this charming Andalusian village sits near the Cadiz border, about 40 minutes from Marbella.
Often called the "cradle of Andalusia," Casares is perched on a hillside, with narrow, winding streets weaving through its whitewashed houses.

It won first place in the survey, receiving 4,922 votes from nearly 5,000 participants, beating 98 other villages.
National Geographic also ranked it among the 100 most beautiful towns in Spain, highlighting its "narrow and winding centuries-old slopes."
The publication also praised Casares Castle, a Moorish fortress built in the 1200s, which once served as a key defence for the Nasrid kingdom.
National Geographic wrote: “It’s hard to picture Casares without its stunning viewpoints, offering panoramic views of whitewashed houses stacked like sugar cubes.”

Another historical landmark is Iglesia de la Encarnación, a 17th-century church featuring a striking Mudejar-style bell tower.
For those looking to unwind, Casares is also home to Baños de la Hedionda, a Roman spa famous for its sulphur-rich waters, which are believed to have healing properties.
Located in the Río de Manilva valley, the spa is free to visit, though reservations are required during peak season from June to September.
The survey collected votes between December 11 and 27 this year. Olvera in Cadiz came in second with 3,711 votes, while Vejer de la Frontera secured third place with 875 votes.
