While spring is only just starting in the UK, lots of places across Europe are already much warmer.
This makes them great for an Easter getaway or a holiday during term time if you do not have school-aged children.
This place sits on Spain’s Mediterranean coast and is a popular choice for visitors who want either a relaxing beach break or a trip filled with history and culture.
It is simple to reach from major UK airports, with return flights from London costing as little as £33 in April.

With temperatures climbing to around 21C at the moment, it is an ideal spot for anyone hoping to enjoy some early sunshine.
Travellers can relax on beautiful beaches like Playa de la Albufereta or head up to Castillo de Santa Barbara, the huge castle that looks out over the whole city.
But if you travel a little further along the coastline from Alicante, you will find a special resort that many people describe as a ‘hidden gem’, according to the Manchester Evening News.
Located between Alicante and Benidorm, Villajoyosa, which means ‘joyful town’, provides a different kind of holiday feel.
It can be reached in about 40 minutes by bus from Alicante or around an hour by tram, with regular services available throughout the day.

Villajoyosa is famous for its brightly coloured buildings that sit beside the town’s sandy beach.
In the past, people believed these bold colours helped fishermen recognise their homes when they were returning from the sea.
The lovely seaside town was named Europe’s ‘best hidden gem’ last year by the travel guide European Best Destinations.
The award makes sense, as Villajoyosa is often missed by visitors who choose busier places like Alicante or Benidorm instead.
There is more to Villajoyosa than just its colourful houses. As you would expect from a town on the Costa Blanca, it has several beautiful beaches.
The main stretch of sand, Playa la Villajoyosa, also called Playa Centro, sits right in front of the town’s bright and eye-catching homes.
