A Christmas market just two hours from the UK has been named the best festive destination in Europe.
Described as “magical” and “magnificent” by travel experts at Get Your Holiday, this winter wonderland is the perfect place to get into the Christmas spirit, filled with glowing lights, wooden stalls and tasty festive treats.
Even better, return flights start from only £32 with easyJet, making it a great value trip for anyone craving a bit of winter cheer.

“There’s something truly special about Christmas markets, especially when they’re set in the charming heart of a historic European city,” explained the travel expert.
Below, we look at why Prague has been crowned the best place for Christmas markets.
According to Get Your Holiday, “The Old Town Square in Prague hosts the city’s biggest and most impressive Christmas market.
From the top of the Old Town Hall tower, you can enjoy amazing views of the square and even spot other markets across the city. Wenceslas Square, Prague Castle and Kampa Island are must-visits if you want to see them all.”
Get Your Guide shared what visitors can expect: “There’s a petting zoo, a huge 25-metre Christmas tree, and a full programme of carol singing and traditional performances.
Adults can swap mulled wine for grog, a warm local drink made with rum, water, lemon and sugar.”

Both the Old Town Square and Wenceslas Square markets have beautiful wooden nativity scenes showing Mary, Joseph, baby Jesus and the Three Kings. These displays create a traditional and heart-warming atmosphere for visitors to enjoy.
At Wenceslas Square, you can also watch a blacksmith demonstrate his craft using real fire, a popular tradition that fascinates tourists every year.
The square is also home to an open-air ice rink, where skaters can glide under twinkling lights while soaking up the festive mood, according to the Prague Experience.
The travel expert added, “Alongside the handmade ornaments, you’ll find cosy winter accessories and delicious Czech snacks such as gingerbread and trdelník pastries.”
Other food favourites include large spit-roasted hams known as šunka, grilled sausages called klobása, garlic flatbreads (langoš), crispy potato chips (hranolky), smoked meat dumplings (knedlíky plněné uzeným masem), sweet dumplings (sladké knedlíky), pancakes (palačinky), local cheeses and roasted chestnuts, according to the Prague Experience.
