Beautiful little city repeatedly ranked the best in Europe for a city break 5 years in a row

Europe is packed with lovely cities that are ideal for a weekend trip or even a full week away, and one of them has been voted the best of all.

A study carried out by Which? Travel has named this place as the top city break in Europe for the fifth year in a row.

Which?’s survey looked at seven different areas, including food and drink, places to stay, cultural sights, shopping, how easy it is to get around, how busy it feels, and value for money.

A final score was worked out based on visitor satisfaction and how likely people were to recommend the city. Krakow topped the list with a brilliant score of 92 percent.

The city earned five stars for its food and drink, its hotels, and how simple it is to move around.

It was also the only place to get five stars for value for money, and Kayak’s data shows that average hotel prices are only £86 per night.

Krakow also scored four stars for its cultural sights. One person who took part in the Which? survey said: “Beautiful, mostly untouched city. Excellent food at good prices. I’ve visited many times, and there are lots of affordable hotels. Friendly and pretty safe.”

Krakow is also popular because you can take day trips to important historical sites like Auschwitz and the Wieliczka Salt Mine, which makes the city a thoughtful and meaningful place to visit.

Writing on TripAdvisor, another traveller said: “We visited over Easter weekend so it was very busy, but the energy was amazing. The markets were open, the sun was shining and the horse carriages were moving through the streets.

“While we were there the area was clean and tidy, there was no trouble at all and it was lovely to see people carrying their Easter baskets. The buildings and churches were stunning and we really enjoyed the park.”
