NOBEL MUSEUM AND THE GAMLA STAN EVENING

The Nobel Museum in Stortorget tells the extraordinary story of the Nobel Prize and the remarkable individuals who have received it since 1901. The Vasa Museum is the most visited museum in Scandinavia and one of the finest anywhere. The extraordinary Vasa warship, which sank on her maiden voyage in 1628 and was raised from Stockholm harbour in 1961 after 333 years on the seabed, is 98 percent original and the most remarkably preserved 17th-century ship in the world. The Waxholmsbolaget ferry from Stranden quay to Vaxholm takes 75 minutes through the extraordinary island scenery and gives the finest introduction to the archipelago. Vaxholm Fortress, built to protect Stockholm from seaborne attack since the 16th century, is the most extraordinary island fort in the Stockholm Archipelago. ISLAND EXPLORATION AND RETURN

LAKE MALAREN AND STOCKHOLM FAREWELL

Return to Stockholm by boat across the extraordinary Lake Malaren, the finest approach to the city and the route by which Swedish history flowed for centuries.
