1. Zao Okama crater: check weather before the drive. The extraordinary emerald lake disappears in cloud. A clear day is essential , delay by one day if needed.
2. Kakunodate cherry blossom: peaks late April. The extraordinary weeping cherries are the finest in Tohoku. Book accommodation months ahead for this period.
